On behalf of the Dutch Railways – Nederlandse Spoorwegen –, Mister Kitchen created a new, healthy, and innovative fast food formula for their train stations. We worked out (and then took care of) the concept, recipes, kitchen plan, training, photography, and communication. The end result worked like a charm.
REQUEST BY THE DUTCH RAILWAYS
The people in the Netherlands increasingly opt for healthier food. Unfortunately, it was often difficult to get a fast, tasty, and healthy meal at a train station. It is partly due to this increasing passengers’ demand for healthier takeaway options at train stations that the Dutch Railways asked us for our input.According to a study by the Dutch Railways, there was a growing need for healthier meals, lighter snacks, and quality Asian food. With this in mind, we tackled the question: “How do we develop a formula that meets the needs of our passengers?”
MISTER KITCHEN’S APPROACH
Together with international design agency VBAT, we accompanied the Dutch Railways to a diverse range of food safaris at restaurants and cafés, invited them to creative scrum sessions and tastings at our kitchen. After a lot of tasting, talk, and reflecting, we agreed on a pan-Asian menu that resulted in a formula with lighter meals as its leading feature. Oscar-worthy.After thinking it all through, we had to start implementing – including logistics, staff training and a communication plan. Within a tight schedule of six months, we ensured an efficient and synergetic implementation at top speed.
